Goings On at Flawn Ocho...

I've been spending a lot of time on Flawn Ocho in the last few weeks as I've seen a nice little increase in sales and I hope to run with it ...
I've been organizing the home page for a while now and often I get so overwhelmed with it that I put it on the back burner... However I've made myself trudge through and do some organizing, from which I'm already starting to see the fruits of...

Feel free to go on over to Flawn Ocho and explore...

The Story of the Peace Sun...

One evening shortly after I moved into the apartment currently known as "the Ocho" I had such a wild enthusiasm to paint that I couldn't contain it...  I went into my studio (it's actually a large kitchen, but 75% of it is used as a studio)

pulled out the largest canvas I had on hand and started to gather paints...
My arts supplies were rather low as some things were still packed in storage following the move - but I gathered every bit of paint I could find... many of the tubes were close to empty, so I began to cut them open with a blade - shake the paint onto the canvas and keep moving until it would go no further...
Aside from the fact that I'm a hippy at heart, I have no idea why I started painting the Peace Sun.  It started with the actual peace sign because I had planned another project with this canvas and had a large circle of raised decopage in the center.
After I completed the sun, I had my paint brush loaded with white to touch up the highlighting within the peace sign. When I dropped that brush - leaving a blob of white on the canvas, the words of my Jefferson School Art Teacher, Craig Rhodes echoed in my head ... "If you make a mistake just make it work..." ...and that my friends is when the bubbles and squiggly lines were created.
Sometime later, my friend of 20+ years, Amy the Spirit Dancer asked me to paint a Peace Sun for her Asheville apartment....
After working tirelessly with photos of the original painting to create an "image", I now have this
Peace Sun 2 Rectangle Magnet

As with all of my designs, some of them evolve every so often -
and there are still a lot of projects I  have planned for the Peace Sun...

Hope you LOVE it!  If you know a peacenik, a beatnik, a hippy or someone who just likes to be reminded to be a peaceful and kind creature - please do feel free to share this with them -

A Plea to You Kentucky Fans... Each and Every One...

If a person can stand on the side of the road with a cardboard sign begging for food, then I suppose I can do this ... I need the help of you folks big time!  We are in the throws of the holiday season and I can be breathing more easily literally in 24 hours if I can get one of my designs to catch.
I can't lie ... currently I sell about two items a month out of the Cafe Press store, sometimes more ... but with some of my most recent additions I have the chance to get my store "out there" enough that it could bring in a regular little chunk... Seriously, I'd be tickled to bring in 50 bucks a month from Cafe Press ... I've already created the designs and they're there - The only work I have to handle is updating the site and keeping things current, which while not easy is much easier for me than having to ship and handle money... Now obviously I'd love to bring in much more than that - but we have to take baby steps for big things to happen...
I feel one of the designs with the largest "possibility of catching" is the blue UK Santa.. I've been very careful to design this without using "UK", "Wildcats", "Kentucky" or anything else that might create a copyright infringement.  I started fooling with this design in the late 90s when I was a doting wife.  After seeing it on a drinking glass I began doodling it and then painting it on ornaments.  One thing I would love to find a picture of is the all blue Wildcat tree I created in the "Rec Room" in 98 or 99... it was absolutely delightful.
Anywho .... SO ... here's what I'm asking you kids to do :)
1. Go take a look at this "I Only Wear Red One Day a Year!" Blue Santa merchandise -
2.  Click the share icon(s) on the left hand side of the page to share the page to any, some or all of your news feeds.  Obviously I don't want you to take all day working on this project - but the more places you share the better...

3.  If you see something and like it, I'll be tickled if you buy it - if you don't buy anything I also will not  in anyway be offended :)  If you see something you think another friend of yours might like I encourage you to share it with them ... and if you're not already a fan of the Flawn Ocho page on Facebook - I'd love for you to go add it - again - no obligation - I don't like high pressure sales :)

As the Holiday Season Approaches, You Have to Ask Yourself...

"Do I have a fan of all things *Choo-Choo* and Railroad related on my shopping list?"

At Flawn Ocho you can find many *Choo-Choo* and Railroad designs
with more being added before the *holiday shopping season* officially begins...

***

*Choo Choo Collection Magnets*

The Choo Choo Collection logo itself is created from a shot I captured of tin can remains on the side of the railroad tracks in Makanda, Illinois... No doubt the trace of a hobo who wandered through on his way to who knows where.  It's truly one of my favorite shots of all time...

The Choo Choo Collection logo is available on
